Lunch at Taco Bell

It doesn't happen very often, but every once in a while I get a craving for one of those old inauthentic crackly-shell American-style tacos. If I was in Arcadia I'd go to Taco Lita, or if I was over near Rosemead and Foothill I'd go to Del Taco, but I'm sticking with Monrovia, so I'm giving the Taco Bell in the Albertson's parking lot a try. Got the three-taco combo. Tasted fine but I'm still hungry so I got another.

Tip of the Week

Theft Prevention from Vehicles
Always lock your doors and roll up all windows when you leave your car.  Car thieves regularly patrol parking lots and try door handles to see if they will open.  They will even try door handles on cars parked in driveways late at night when you are sleeping.  They are hoping for an unlocked vehicle that they can get into quickly and they will take anything left inside.  You should always store valuable items in the trunk, so that a criminal does not see them and become tempted to break into your vehicle.

Opinion: Professionally done, but I don't understand why it is a good expenditure of money to tell residents about the attractions of their own home towns, especially in an era of tight money.

Portantino Pimp Brand Removal Bill Approved by Committee

It is not unusual to find pimps marking girls and women with “brands” or tattoos to indicate they are property. The brands make it harder for girls – or boys – to break out of prostitution.  A recent news story shows that some who are forced into trafficking are "bar coded" by their abusers. To help these people get a fresh start, Assemblymember Anthony Portantino (who represents part of Monrovia) has introduced legislation that would give these people free tattoo removals. Today, the Assembly Public Safety Committee voted unanimously to approve Portantino’s AB 1956. Source: Portantino press release.
