Farmers Market now has food scrap collection point
The Saturday Farmers Market at Station Square now has a drop-off point for food scraps. Bring them from 8 a.m. to noon and learn how to compost, play an educational sorting game, and receive compost.
A similar program in NYC to require (or be fined) a compost initiative (requiring residents to keep scraps in their fridges until collection day occurs) has been an egregious failure. Few people have participated, and now the separate trash containers (brown ones, in a Freudian slip) required are havens for maggot colonies. So is Monrovia racing NYC to adopt the latest fad among the leftists? Does the City Council understand the difference between fads and reasoned policy?
