Statement of Mayoral Candidate Becky Shevlin
Re-Elect Becky Shevlin for Monrovia Mayor
Vision, Commitment, Passion, and Accessibility are core values I bring in representing all Monrovians. Although a partial list, we can look forward to continued infrastructure maintenance; the reopening of an improved Canyon Park; exciting additions to our Library to provide innovative outdoor programming; and plans are progressing for much needed renovations to our Community Center. We are embarking on new green energy options through the Clean Power Alliance and have taken action to provide a mental health crisis mobile response team. There is much to look forward to and continued work is needed to begin, complete and sustain our goals; together we will be ready! I will continue to be accessible, to set a positive tone of inclusion and representation and promise to continue to lead by example to serve, educate, and engage all Monrovians and especially our most vulnerable. I will continue to work collaboratively as a team through City Council, City Staff and Commissions, constituents, local and regional representation for the betterment of all.

MAYOR BECKY HAS LOST THE TITLE OF MONROVIA ALL AMERICAN CITY FOR MONROVIA
ReplyDeleteOVER BUILD THE CITY FOR HER SPACIAL INTEREST FRIENDS
HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING IN HER TERM FOR THE CITIZENS OF MONROVIA
CRIME UP TAXES UP BUILDING OUT OF CONTROL
MAYOR BECKY FOR TWO MORE YEARS WHY
ELECTING SPICIER HOWEVER IS THE MOST UN QUALIFIED PERSON IN THE HISTORY OF ANY CITY TO RUN FOR OFFICE
I went to school w Larry and his family. He doesn’t speak with his brother nor with his sister. Very demanding and pushy man at our church. Im not even sure if Jesus loves him.
DeleteHi my name is Minister Richard Spicer, Larry Spicer's brother and I want to correct you on your comments about him. Larry and I talk every day, and he speaks to our sister Janet Dixon who lives in Alabama every other day. So, I don't know who you got your information from or you made this up on your own but, it's a lie. Another thing, he is more qualified for being Mayor of Monrovia than you can imagine. Just look at his track record as a councilman if you will, and you will see great things that the City of Monrovia has accomplished. So, please get your facts straight because, it truly sound like you have a jealous spirit coming from your heart, that only God can cure. Lastly, I want to let you know he is pushy and demanding, and I am too. We' re pushy and demanding when it comes to being a witness for Jesus Christ. He's out to win souls for Jesus Christ. So, yes according to John 3:16, Jesus love you as well as him also.
DeleteHere is a tip to all those that misspelled his name: it's Spicer not Spicier and Speicer.
I also agree with the above that Speicer is the most unqualified person for mayor!! Danger!
ReplyDeleteMONROVIA loves BECKY for MAYOR!!!

ReplyDeleteI could not find evidence in the comment I deleted that the person accused had been in jail, so I removed the comment.
ReplyDeletelol reopening of Canyon Park? It’s been what 2+ years now? Not sure that’s anything to brag about. I would bet that with this rain storm it will get delayed another year.
ReplyDeleteBecky and Larry are awful crooks. If you vote for Becky = we keep 2 crooks on council, if you vote for Larry = we keep 1crook. Larry still has 2 years on council whether or not he gets voted in as Mayor so I'm voting for Spicy.
ReplyDeleteshe has the eyes of a narcissist
ReplyDeleteThank you for that opinion. I looked in the DSM-5 and found no indication that eyes play a part in the diagnosis of narcissism. So, ultimately, that comment is not helpful. Perhaps you can offer something of substance that would be.
DeleteI'm actually quite curious. Monrovia has been my hometown since 2010. When I first moved here it was a gem. It had that kind of small mountain town vibe even though it's just a suburbs and I loved that. But now... I mean, myrtle is just another street, there are apartments all over the place that are far too expensive to rent, when I walk I see at least 1 or 2 homeless and/or mentally ill people around not receiving any help. I am constantly hearing about more and more crime. Not to mention that there seems to be very few jobs. What direction are either of these candidates going to take us? Because at the present... it doesn't seem to be a good road we are going on. I would love to be enlightened.
ReplyDeleteAs a Monrovia resident for ten years, I completely agree with you! I recently met Larry Spicer at the street fair and I shared the same concerns with him. He touched on many of these same issues, where he also directed me to his website vote4spicer.com which gave me more information on his new ideas and concerns that he would like to accomplish as Mayor to combat these issues. I believe his contact information is provided on his website. After speaking with Larry, he secured my vote for Mayor!
DeleteHello and thanks for the response! Did you also talk to Becky? I always like to see/hear both sides.
DeleteAnd what did he tell you, personally, that he might do to fix the issues?
I hate to be negative but politicians like to just day things regardless of what they believe in or are actually planning on doing.
Hello and no, Larry has been the only candidate I have personally met. In our conversation, we talked about the incoming Job Resource Center in the City and his role in bringing that to Monrovia. One of his new ideas is centered around an Affordable Housing Plan. He has a lot of information on his website and seems like a genuine and passionate guy who wants to make Monrovia better in my opinion!
DeleteI have not met or spoken with Becky, but she most likely also has a website.
