On Jan. 27, Monrovia's Fellowship Church, which has met in the Monrovia High School Auditorium for years, will be changing locations to Fellowship Center, the church's administrative offices at the northeast corner of Huntington and California. The letter announcing the move said the new space will be "intimate." The move to a smaller venue follows internal turmoil last year involving the main pastor being disciplined for sexting, for complaints about an unfriendly work environment and about how church funds were used.

There's no need to end it with that. Pastor Tate is an amazing Pastor and assuming and publishing negative things aren't cool. Be a better person and just say where his new place and where it will be. Shame on you .

DeleteTrue repentance comes with accountability and accepting the consequences of our actions. But it there seems to be a constant cover-up with what he’s done. That’s not how you hold leaders accountable.

DeleteThe fact that you had to add the Pastor's down fall speaks volumes about whoever wrote this. I'm sure that is not the sole reason the service is being moved let's be real! Seems the main pastor is not the only one that needs some healing... Good luck!!!
DeleteI am Kenneth E. Roberson, Sr. I have reviewed Fellowship’s Articles of Incorporation as accessed through the California Secretary of State’s website. I have also reviewed Fellowship’s Bylaws as accessed through Fellowship’s website. I posted on 1-14-24 concerns about both documents, especially about how they impact the congregation. For example, Fellowship operates under Fellowship Church, Inc. The Bylaws grant full power and authority to a “Board of Elders” that acts as the corporation’s Board of Directors. The Bylaws do not grant congregation members any power or authority in the corporation. The Bylaws do not require that a Board member attend Fellowship. The Bylaws permit discipline of any Fellowship pastor to be handled privately per Mt. 18:15-17 (including, “if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone), no matter how egregious the sin(s), and the Bylaws nowhere refer to 1 Tim. 5:20 (“them [elders] that sin rebuke before all, that others may fear”). The Bylaws have three sentences’ worth of qualifications to be a member of the “Board of Elders,” in contrast to the many Scriptural qualifications to be an “elder” under 1 Tim. 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. Yet the “Board of Elders” controls whether an “elder” under 1 Tim. 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9 can preach or teach the gospel at all. The Bylaws do not require that congregation members be given notice concerning where and when Board meetings are held, and they can be held by telephone. My post also poses questions concerning the Bylaws and compensation to members of the “Board of Elders,” salaries to Fellowship’s officers, and Pastor Tate’s legal employment relationship with the corporation.
ReplyDeleteI have also reviewed video of Fellowship’s November 19, 2023 “Town Hall Meeting.” A separate post that I posted on 1-14-24 discusses concerns about that meeting and provides a link to a video of that meeting. Those concerns include (1) questions about Pastor Tate’s income from Fellowship, (2) comments about the confusing remarks of the meeting’s panel members concerning the nature of Fellowship’s board and the board’s responsibilities, (3) comments about the alleged misappropriation and/or alleged misuse of Fellowship funds, and (4) Pastor Tate’s unfair and hypocritical treatment of Ms. Julie Roys of The Roys Report at the meeting. ReplyDeleteI haven’t heard anything about molesting young boys in Monrovia. If something like that is confirmed I will report it. I didn’t think saying Fellowship moving to a smaller venue and my giving the lead-up to that was bias. If you want to know my bias it is that I really like Albert and pray that he and Fellowship will recover and do well. - Brad Haugaard
