The Monrovia City Council on July 19 appointed Sergio Jimenez to fill the council seat vacated when Becky Shevlin was elected as Mayor. Jimenez placed fourth in the council election, after Larry Spicer, Tamala Kelly and Sashary Zaroyan.

Grollnek, knock it off. Your chamber pot stirring is ignorant. You lost. Retire gracefully, and allow the Council to do its business. See you next election for an attention-getting disruption.
ReplyDeleteNICE TO ALWAYS HERE FROM ANONYMOUS LOVE TALKING TO PEOPLE WHO NEVER TELL WHO THEY ARE WONDER WHY THERE JUST STOOGES FOR FOR THE BIG 5
DeleteCorrection, Sergio Jimenez placed in 4th! Sashary Zaroyan placed in 3rd, behind Larry Spicer and Tamala Kelly!
ReplyDeleteOuch! You are absolutely correct. I've corrected the report. Zaroyan 2,533 votes, Jimenez 2,121. My apologies.
DeleteThank you for your correction, Brad. Also, thank you for keeping our city informed. God Bless You!
DeleteThanks!
DeleteWhy wasn't Zaroyan appointed as they received more votes??
ReplyDeleteI was surprised too that they did not appoint the candidate that got the next highest number of votes after Spicer and Kelly.
ReplyDeleteOur country is technically not a democracy, but rather a REPUBLIC where our ELECTED OFFICIALS make most of the decisions. These people are often MORE INFORMED than the voters. Some voters will vote for someone just because of their looks or their age or their ethnicity. These are not adequate reasons solely for someone to vote for someone! There are probably some voters who did not vote for Sergio solely because of his hair. That would be a ridiculous thing to happen!
DeleteBrad what was the process of him getting selected? It seems against the will of the people when Sasha got third place ahead of him.
ReplyDeleteI believe the city council can select whomever it wants and it chose Jimenez. You’d have to ask the council members what their reasons were.
DeleteYou are absolutely right about the city council has the power to appoint whoever they want if there is a vacancy on the city council. That power is granted by law and rightly so IMHO.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, whoever it was that claimed that ALL the city council lives north of Foothill Blvd. in Monrovia is absolutely wrong! Also, we should have a little respect for Dr. Kelley, Mr. Grollnek. She is a pastor of The Purpose Church with her long time husband, Pastor William Kelley. Calling people by their last name and using all CAPS is not nice. Be nice, Brother.
ReplyDeleteMy grammar was wrong above. My apologies to you. The comment of mine above should have read as follows: "You are absolutely right about the City Council HAVING the power to appoint whomever they want to if there is a vacancy on the City Council. That power is granted and protected by law and rightly so IMHO. Ask our fine City Attorney if you disagree, Stephen or whoever is trying to stir up a hornet's nest here. LOL"
