  1. Godspeed to the lady and child, and to their friends and relatives.

I hope Monrovia PD and LASD find who did this and put them away for a long time.

With all respect to Monrovia PD rank and file, the policy of the Chief to refuse issuing concealed carry permits to qualified people because "we're safe" looks less informed as violence escalates. The police cannot be everywhere all the time. After watching a road rage assault in front of Trader Joes a few weeks ago, and more and more incidents involving strong-arm if not armed robberies, citizens should have the choice of what to do about their personal safety. Hiding in your house just avoids the problem.

Every interaction I have had with Monrovia PD has been positive, save when I inquired about a carry permit, when I got a run-around that clearly was invented to discourage even asking.

While no-issue is dearly loved by progressives, it doesn't help citizens be safe. Police cannot do it all.

I have been able to carry in 30+ states for 16 years. Because I live in Monrovia, I cannot get a CA permit. If I lived in Riverside, this would not be the case. I am not the problem. The attitude of the Chief is the problem.

    1. Okay Joe Friday what makes you so sure this was a murder? It could of been an accident its been very cold the past several nights they could of died from carbon monoxide poisoning I don't see how running around armed to the teeth looking like Rambo would do?

    2. Maybe because the homicide unit is one one investigating? Maybe because the headline and intro say they "were killed" suggesting it was a murder? Maybe because they involved crime stoppers? Maybe because it says "suspects: unknown?" Why even put that if they're considering it an accident. Did you even read the article? Not sure how you could've missed all that if you did... It's pretty clear that it was a murder..

  2. Let's not forget that arrests are down and crime is up due to the progressive politics that have brought up AB109, Proposition 47 and upcoming Proposition 59.

CA is an outlier compared to national trends on CCW and firearms prohibitions. It more resembles Venezuela than the United States. Los Angeles as a county is an outlier even withing CA for no-issue policies. Savants like Kevin Leon and DiFi are poster children for uninformed legislators. They have little idea what they are talking about and like so many others, have no exposure to the results of their ignorance. The laws they pass don't affect them or their lifestyle, but those on the sharp end of criminal violence do. That would be the poor and middle class who can't afford personal security squads (armed with guns citizens are denied, because they are SPECIAL and looking after SPECIAL people with connections).

CA has a widening trend when it comes to income inequality, and that is fine with the special people. This trend matches the relative security of people to simply live without being prey.

Progressive politics is about securing the position of elites, not about much else.

    1. And where is the city on this. They were very irked when I had an Easy-Up tent in my driveway that someone found offensive, nice letter outlining my offenses and how fines would be levied unless I complied.

The man who signed the letter admitted to me the city doesn't look for such "code violations", they rely on citizens to be offended and complain, but fines are revenue enhancement.

Where I caught the gentleman, and he is, is that whoever complained also didn't like where I have my garbage bins. I had a complaint about that, when I first moved in, and it was solved.

The City guy and I went through where else I could put them that would comply with the letter of the code. He went to Google Maps or another such ap and could see what my options were as I walked through them. We ended with, between no viable options and prior city approval of where I had placed the bins, he would call me if necessary, but leave them where they are. Very practical man. We have not spoken since, but I hope he has a nice Christmas.

  4. The headline indicating "killed" brings to mind something other than an "accident", but maybe it is so.

Hopefully clarification will appear soon as to what is going on.

It would seem that simple OD or carbon monoxide poisoning, for example, would not require LASD assistance.

    We'll see.
