State Senator Anthony Portantino, who represents Monrovia, has introduced a bill, SB 419, which would prohibit doctors from proscribing oxycodone, used to treat moderate to severe pain, to individuals under the age of 21.
Portantino's press release says Oxycodone, more commonly known by its brand name OxyContin, has become abused, often ending in addiction, tragedy and overdose.

Does Portantino has an MD degree to decide when a patient needs pain control? What about in a car accident, if the person suffers any damage to his/her spine, or femur? What about after surgery? Really, California legislation cannot think of anything else by try to control even physicians. Maybe they want to find out who are the irresponsible MDs who are over prescribing the drug.
ReplyDeleteI would be curious if the person that posted above - and others like them - have that same feeling about doctors and patients deciding whether a pregnancy should be terminated? Do people really trust doctors or not? Or just want the drug store always open for abuse?

Deletethe point is people are willing to let lawmakers legislate on things all the time that they don't have actual experience in because they have their own agenda (being pro-life/pro-birth) and they are fine with it because they want to force women to be incubators
