At its Nov. 1 meeting, the Monrovia City Council will consider whether to allow Bowden Development to put gates at both entrances of a recently-completed, 7-unit residential development between 1122 and 1126 South Magnolia Ave. and 239-247 West Cypress Ave. City staff is recommending allowing the variance. Although I thought the location chosen for a project such as this was a bit odd, I was thrilled to see new higher end housing integrated into this neighborhood. By gating this project you will turn a highly beneficial improvement to this neighborhood into it's own exclusive colony. How can that be beneficial to the neighborhood let alone the community? The builder is very familiar with the community, why was this issue not addresses during the planing phase of this project?
