Trail restoration work begins Monday

Trail restoration in the Hillside Wilderness Preserve begins Monday, March 24. Contractors will repair damage from fire-related dozer lines by reshaping trails, reinforcing edges, and installing drainage features. Work will take several weeks and some trails will close intermittently for safety.

Comment: I'm up there frequently and while the trails need a bit of work, they're actually in pretty good shape.

  1. About time the city did some work in the preserve! After more than 20 million dollars spent in Monrovia canyon it about time they spend a few dollars on Clamshell TT!

    1. Who knew it was so expensive to not restrict people from natural, undeveloped areas? I wonder if they’ll add fiber telecom to Clamshell while it’s closed to match that of MCP. Maybe they can both stay closed longer so that the city can plan a big re-opening celebration with swag whose designs pay homage to all of the places we’ve been kept out of!

  2. Do they really need to shut down the trail system for this? As Brad said, it’s actually in great shape. HWP is full of forks and segments, the vast majority of which are nowhere near the portion that got re-graded during Eaton. Worse yet, if they are going to close it all, why on Earth would they schedule this to be done before MCP opens to at least give residents another option?
