This sign, which has been getting scruffier by the year, it’s a very poor advertisement for Monroe Elementary, a California Distinguished School, or for Monrovia schools in general. I brought this up to an official at the school district a number of years ago and was told the sign belongs to the PTA. Well, to whomever it belongs, it really should be fixed.

When I was PTA president at Monroe, we wanted to put in a new sign. At the time, the neighbors were totally against it, so we were shot down.
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn’t believe the hoops that the district makes the PTA to go through to get it replaced or updated. They wanted to treat it as if it was like building a new gym with studies, permits bidding process, reviews etc.
ReplyDeleteNo matter who it belongs to the district should take a little more pride in how things like this look in addition to the general upkeep of the school which is poor at best
