Ike’s Love & Sandwiches, a San Francisco sandwich brand, has opened in Monrovia at 606 W. Huntington Dr., next to Chipotle. A grand opening is scheduled for April 13. The first 50 customers will receive a free sandwich, a t-shirt, and a chance to win free sandwiches for a year. Ike Shehadeh, the founder of Ike’s, will be on-site for the event. The Monrovia location will offer meat, vegetarian, vegan, and halal sandwich options.

Given that the sandwich empire is now at least in six states, how come many of the ‘celebrity sandwiches’ remain SF Giant-centric? Where’s the love for the locals’ sports teams? Also, why does the website still reference the bread as ‘Dutch crunch’ when even the founder, in a 2021 SF Gate interview, only chooses to call it Dutch bread (since it’s his signature riff of the classic Dutch crunch bread)? It is good bread.
