Assemblymember Chris Holden's Tobacco Cessation Legislation, AB 1696, passed the Assembly Health Committee today with a 16-1 vote. The bill will now head to the Assembly Appropriations Committee. The bill requires tobacco cessation medications, counseling, and assessments to be covered for Medi-Cal patients. Holden represents Monrovia. Source: Holden press release

This would be a good thing for many Monrovians. The City is considering a no smoking in the parks program. Here is a way to get these folks help for their addiction if they want it.
ReplyDeletePoliticians need to get out the nanny business. There are many options open already. Expanding the welfare state cannot continue indefinitely. If Holden doesn't have anything more important to worry about, maybe he should go to half time in Sacto and get a real job for the rest of the year.
