The state's High Speed Rail Authority is apparently considering a rail tunnel through the San Gabriel Mountains.
Anyway, the Authority is considering several alternative routes through the Angeles National Forest and San Gabriel Mountains National Monument and wants to do some boring to evaluate the feasibility.
So, the US Forest Service is asking for the public's comments on the matter. If you have thoughts, they may be sent by mail or e-mail to: Angeles National Forest and San Gabriel Mountains National Monument, Attn. George Farra, 701 N. Santa Anita Avenue, Arcadia, CA 91006 or e-mail to gfarra@fs.fed.us Subject: HSRA GI. But get your comments in by October 23 of this year.

FYI, this is about linking up the Central Valley's high speed rail with Los Angeles proper, probably via Burbank. They need to tunnel under the mountains and are looking for the best/safest way.
