Confusion About Effect of Making Mountains Into a National Monument

Confusion about what it means for parts of the San Gabriel Mountains to be a National Monument ( http://goo.gl/1GOe5w ): Possible effect on water supplies if San Gabriel River is included in the area (and from the White House map, it appears to be included), land usage may be "altered," possible new fees.

Comment: As I've noted, it does not seem to directly affect Monrovia, as the wretchedly small-scale map released by the White House ( http://goo.gl/38pjPb ) seems to indicate the south border of the National Monument is the Rincon Road ridgeline far north of the city.

  1. Whatever it takes to clean up the mess of the San Gabriel River is fine with me. Fees, gates, anything. So sad to go up there to see the graffiti and trash.

  2. I have NO problem with a National Monument. However I do have a problem with accessing parts of a monument via private citizen owned properties. Chu, Lutz, Spicer, Blackburn and Shevlin have no problem declaring open season on citizen private property rights. As for Tom Adams ... he's just kind of gone Mute. How sad is that?

    3. National Monument doesn't come within miles of Monrovia. Why not share your knowledge?

  3. Your neighbors property is virtually land locked. His shortest/best access to his place is through your property. He demands that you give him full UN-resticted right-aways to and through your land. Since he is bigger and badder you must comply to his demands. You don't have the funds to fight HIM in court so you are defenseless. However ...you still own property and must make the mortgage payments but he 'controls' the usage. Most people here in town clueless and don't give a rip about it. To speak up gets one labeled a trouble maker. And there you have it.
