Monrovia reports on Facebook that starting tonight city staff is testing the Old Town holiday lights and that those lights will be featured in a holiday themed T-Mobile commercial Monday night, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
I do hope that the city gets some $$$ for the publication of it's city lights in a for profit commercial - I would dare to inquire; how much $$$ does the city spend to put up, power and take down holiday lighting? I certainly do not believe that the city workers and the power company donate their time to put up/take down & power those pretty holiday lights. But in a time of belt tightening is not that money better spent on say, on books for the library? Or books for the school district? And what about putting that $$$ towards the Senior Center, to buy meals or assisting with gas/lights/food for the city's seniors? I do enjoy said holiday lights, but could not the $$$ be better spent?
